Nick (b. Seoul, Korea 02') grew up in Central MA, and currently resides in Boston where he works as a Fine Art Printer and Digitization Specialist at Digital Silver Imaging.
Since he first picked up a camera at a young age, Nick has been intrigued by both the specificity and what is to be pieced together with the finite moment an image is made during. He is interested in the relationship between the maker, image and audience; what is created and what is left unanswered, to be pieced together. He often turns to the camera in an effort to create a visual record of everyday experiences through his lens, where he explores small, intimate moments between people, kin, and place. Through the power of sequencing images and the incorporation of text to create a lyrical successions and fragmented narratives, he looks to mirror stories he heard growing up.
Nick received his Bachelor of Fine Arts in Photography from the Massachusetts College of Art and Design (24'). During his time in undergrad, he was awarded the Gertrude Kasebier McPhee Grant (23'), a New England Portfolio Review Scholarship (24'), and the Gertrude Kasebier Palmer/Tourlentes Travel Grant (24') to return to Seoul to explore origins, culture, and what place holds for the individual. Nick has shown work in group shows at Abigail Ogilvy SoWA, Panopticon Gallery, and the Photographic Resource Center Boston and has been featured on Lensculture, Lenscratch, and Float Magazine.
Nick is available for assisting + commissions.
